Sacred Text Practices: If you've been part of a holy text study, you may be familiar with some or all of these already! Sacred text practices are the practice of treating a text as though it were sacred and important. And while mostly this is done with religious texts, it can also be done with texts that you deem important enough to read with your students! The most important part of most of these practices is the selection of a very small portion of the text for deeper analysis--maybe a sentence or two. These particular practices are pulled from Harry Potter and the Sacred Text, a podcast that examines the Harry Potter series chapter-by-chapter, analyzing it through themes and exploring the text using these practices. If you want to hear this practices in action, I highly recommend the podcast!
